Il posto is a 1961 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Ermanno Olmi, his second feature film. Screened at the 1961 Venice FIlm Festival, it received numerous national and international awards.

Domenico abandons his studies to work, meets Antonietta during a job application process, and forms a brief but shy connection before they are assigned to different departments. He starts as a messenger, crosses paths with her only fleetingly, and later attends a New Year’s Eve party where she never appears. Returning to work, he is moved into the accounting department but ends up pushed to a marginal desk because of seniority rules.
