DESCRIPTION:The King of Laughter is set in the early 1900s when\, at the height of his success\, Edoardo Scarpetta was called to defend himself in court against Gabriele D’Annunzio who\, offended by the parody of his work La figlia di Iorio\, accused the Neapolitan comic of plagiarizing the original play to discredit him. \nThe theatre scenes were shot at the Teatro Valle di Roma where Miseria e Nobiltà\, the work in which Scarpetta first presented the character Felice Sciosciamocca to the public\, was staged in the late 1800s.
