In occasione della Festa della Repubblica Italiana, celebriamo il 2 giugno 1946, il giorno storico in cui gli italiani scelsero la Repubblica attraverso un voto democratico, ponendo le basi dell’Italia moderna fondata sui valori di libertà, partecipazione e unità. Quest’anno il Quirinale ha lanciato una nuova iniziativa digitale dedicata ai cittadini e agli italiani nel mondo: una piattaforma con videomessaggi e testimonianze che permettono a tutti di partecipare virtualmente alle celebrazioni e condividere il significato della Repubblica oggi.
La serata sarà trasmessa in diretta da Rai Uno a partire dalle ore 21.00.

Per festeggiare con un antipasto tipico, la rivista La Cucina Italiana ha dedicato un menù al tricolore italiano.

On the occasion of the Italian Republic Day, we celebrate June 2, 1946, the historic day when Italians chose the Republic through a democratic vote, laying the foundations of modern Italy based on the values of freedom, participation, and unity. This year, the Quirinale has launched a new digital initiative dedicated to citizens and Italians around the world: a platform featuring video messages and testimonials that allow everyone to participate virtually in the celebrations and share the meaning of the Republic today.
The evening will be broadcast live on Rai Uno starting at 9:00 p.m.

To celebrate with a typical appetizer, the magazine La Cucina Italiana has dedicated a menu to the Italian tricolour.

Italian Book Donation to the Community
Nell’ambito della Settimana Italiana, la Dante di Ottawa organizza un’iniziativa speciale di donazione di libri italiani alla comunità. L’appuntamento è fissato per domenica 21 giugno, un momento di condivisione e diffusione della lingua e della cultura italiana, reso possibile grazie all’impegno delle volontarie della Dante.
As part of Italian Week, the Dante Society of Ottawa is organizing a special event dedicated to donating Italian books to the community. The event will take place on Sunday, June 21, offering a meaningful opportunity to share and promote Italian language and culture, made possible thanks to the dedication of Dante’s volunteers.

La sconosciuta è un film del 2006 scritto e diretto da Giuseppe Tornatore. Sei anni dopo Malèna, il regista siciliano torna al cinema con un film ispirato ad alcuni fatti di cronaca riguardanti il racket della prostituzione di ragazze provenienti dall’Europa dell’Est e sullo sfruttamento dei loro uteri per dare figli a coppie che non possono averne. Il film, ambientato nella fittizia città veneta di Velarchi, è uscito nelle sale italiane il 20 ottobre 2006.

—La sconosciuta is a 2006 film written and directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. Six years after Malèna, the Sicilian director returned to the screen with a film inspired by real-life events involving the prostitution racket of young women from Eastern Europe and the exploitation of their wombs to provide children to couples who are unable to have them. The film, set in the fictional Venetian city of Velarchi, was released in Italian cinemas on October 20, 2006.
